Soap has been handmade since antiquity. The women used to wash their clothes in the river using only river water. They noticed that the clothes came cleaner when washed near the runoff of the sacrificial area where animals were burned in fire as an offering to the gods. Eventually they figured out that what was cleaning their clothes was the stuff made when the animal fat reacted with the lye produced from the fire's ashes. And so soap was born. We've come a long way since then. Recently the medical profession has found that our skin is a conduit into our bodies. We now use skin patches as a delivery system for medication. So it is important what our skin is in contact with. That's why it is important to formulate our soap to include ingredients which are healthy for our skin and our bodies. Toward this end we have studied the ingredients which go into soap, creams and lotions and use the knowledge in formulating our products. The following list is meant to help you in your choices. The ingredients we discuss include Aloe Vera, Apricot Oil, Calendula Oil, Canola Oil (Rapeseed), Castor Oil, Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, Honey, Jojoba Oil, Lard, Oatmeal, Cornmeal, and Ground Apricot Kernel, Olive Oil, Palm Oil, Safflower Oil, Shea Butter (African Karite Butter), Soybean Oil, Sunflower Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Tallow, Vitamin E Oil, and Wheat Germ Oil.
